Introduction
Lent is a season of preparation, inviting us to shift our focus from trying to be the savior to realizing our need for one. This week, we explore the heart of generosity—what it means, why it matters, and how it reflects genuine faith in Jesus.
Discussion
1. Share a time when someone showed generosity to you in a meaningful way. How did it impact you?
2. What are some of the effects of genuine faith? How have you seen others demonstrate genuine faith in Jesus?
3. Revisit & Read – Read John 14:15. How does this passage challenge or encourage you in the way you live out your faith?
4. Revisit & Read – Read John 15:9-12. What do you notice about the heart behind generosity in this passage?
5. What is one step you can take this week to grow in generosity?
Application
- Give Freely. God’s gift of salvation is free, but came at a great cost. Give freely because Jesus did.
- Check Your Heart. As you’re increasing in obedience to God, your love for others should too.
- Live Authentically. Let your generosity be a reflection of a genuine, growing faith in Jesus.
Prayer: Spend time asking God to develop a generous heart in you out of genuine faith and authentic love. Pray for opportunities to practice generosity and for the courage to trust him with what you have.
