Pastor Jesse called us to look forward—considering where God is leading Prairie Lakes over the next ten years. Last week, we talked about our mission (why we exist): To follow Jesus together for our neighbors. This week is all about vision (where we’re going), which is:
We make multisite church work for communities who need a church like ours:
- 12 total campuses across Iowa and beyond (one every two years)
- 4,000 people across the Faith Line
- 3,000 people baptized
We need a vision not just for which communities we need to reach, but also for what kind of community we need to become. We can’t keep launching churches that you can invite your friends to but don’t make friends at. We can’t keep launching churches that add to God’s family but that don’t build a sense of family.
Discussion
1. When we follow Jesus together, it’s a blessing. Read John 13:34-35. Some of the most precious and important gifts Jesus gives his people only come through relationships with his people. Share a story when you uniquely experienced God’s love or encouragement this way. How did it impact you?
2. When we follow Jesus together, the world notices. We all crave meaningful community—one that reflects Jesus’ love in real relationships. Do you experience that kind of love here now, and would someone outside your church family see it if they stepped into your life? If the answer’s no, what might need to change?
3. When we follow Jesus together, we’re moved to sacrifice. Revisit and read Romans 12:3-13 and Romans 12:6-9. Paul doesn’t just tell the Roman churchgoers to share their gifts; he says to love sincerely. When you start thinking about contributing to this vision, where do you start—out of a sense of “knowing you should” or by being moved by God’s grace and generosity to you?
4. Now think about your two circles: your closest relationships and your church family. How do they overlap, and what does that reveal about where you invest your time, energy, and relational equity?
5. Sincere question: Are you in for the next 10? Talk about why (or why not) and what the future could —or should—look like for you and your group.
