Let’s be honest - most of us choose what’s easiest most of the time. But when convenience sits on the throne of our lives, it distorts our perspective. This week, we’re asking: What gets squeezed out of our hearts when we let convenience shape how we see money and generosity?
Discussion
1. Revisit and read Mark 10:17-22. The man in this story wasn’t unwilling to obey -he just couldn’t let go of what he loved. Has the convenience or security that money offers ever kept you from surrendering or responding to something God was asking you to do?
2. Revisit and read Matthew 6:24. Jesus says we can’t serve both God and money. When has generosity helped loosen money’s grip on your heart or trust God more with what you have?
3. Revisit and read Acts 5:1-11. Ananias and Sapphira wanted the appearance of generosity without the honesty or cost. When are you tempted to appear more generous or obedient than you actually are - and what’s usually underneath that?
4. Revisit and read Genesis 13:5-18. Abraham gave up his rights and trusted God to provide. Can you think of a time when you let go of something you wanted or deserved - and saw God show up afterward? What might that past experience invite you to trust him with now?
5. Revisit and read John 6:5-13. A small act of faith became the starting point for a miracle. Where have you been dismissing a small nudge to give, act, or serve? What’s holding you back?
Application
- Be Honest. Name where you're tempted to look generous without actually being generous—and take a step toward integrity.
- Let Go. Ask God to show you where convenience or security is keeping you from fully trusting him.
- Start Small. Act on one nudge this week, even if it feels insignificant or inconvenient.
