Introduction
Lent is a season of preparation, inviting us to shift our focus from trying to be the savior to realizing our need for one. This week, we enter the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus faces immense pressure yet remains faithful to the bigger picture of God's plan.
Discussion
1. Share about a time when you felt immense pressure in a situation. How did you respond to it?
2. Revisit & Read - Read Matthew 26:36-46. What stands out to you about Jesus’ response in this moment?
3. Jesus admitted his deep sorrow and struggle. Why do you think it’s difficult for us to acknowledge our struggles to others? How does vulnerability help us grow?
4. Revisit & Read - Read Mark 14:35-36 and Hebrews 12:2. How did Jesus stay focused on the bigger picture? What does this teach us about trusting God in our struggles?
5. What is one way you can practice yielding to God's will this week, even when it’s difficult?
Application
- Stay Focused. Keep your eyes on the bigger picture, knowing God is at work even in hardship.
- Be Honest. Like Jesus, acknowledge your struggles instead of pretending they don’t exist.
- Yield to God. Choose obedience, trusting that his plan is greater than your own.
Prayer: Spend time praying that you would trust God in the midst of pressure and learn to surrender your struggles to him. Ask for courage to be honest and strength to keep your focus on the bigger picture.
