Staying Connected

Friday, June 27, 2008

Prairielakians,

Alright…this is the big weekend for inviting your friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives. Make the calls now…go…shoo…scat…don’t be scared!

Here are some details for the Outdoor Worship Service:

-starts at 10:00a.m. but get here plenty early…

-bring a lawn chair or blanket, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses or whatever you need to be comfortable…there will be some tent shade available for seniors.

-“carnival type” food available for purchase…hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn….all real cheap!

-inflatable jumpers, face painting, dunk tank, beach balls, Frisbees…fun!

-most important: we will worship and ask God to speak to us through His word…

-be especially faithful in your giving…we usually get smoked with a low offering…let’s reverse the trend on outdoor services!

Childcare note from Ellen Trunnell, Wee Kids’ Coordinator:

·         Nurseries will open at 9:30 a.m. for children up to age 2. Preschoolers will attend the service with their parents.  Parents will check in as normal at our Wee Kids’ check in station.

·         We will attempt to get cell phone numbers from parents. We will use these numbers to call parents in case we need them during the service.  In the event of a parent or someone in their party not having a phone, we will have to hold up a sign requesting that a parent come to the Wee Kids’ wing for their child.

·         Parents please pick up kids immediately after the service so the childcare volunteers can enjoy the party, too!

-Flood Relief:  If you would like to volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse to help flood victims, please sign-up on the Website or call the church office at 266.2655. Starting this weekend, volunteers from all over the country will be descending on Prairie Lakes Church to join SP. We still need you! We have over 100 homes requesting assistance…Jesus with skin-on!

-Volunteers should meet at the church starting Monday – Saturday at 7:45 a.m. and must be able to volunteer a minimum of four hours.

-Because of the hazardous conditions, 16-17 year olds must have a parents’ signature and children under 15 are not allowed into the work area.

-Wear rubber or waterproof boots.

-Still can use gift cards/money. Because of your continued generosity we have been able to give several thousand dollars to help families with immediate needs.

-Billy Graham Rapid Response Team Chaplains will also be staying at PLC.

-If you need help, please sign-up on the Website or call the church office.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend…keep pointing.

Pastor John
