FAQ

Should I shift my current giving to a pledge for A Better Story?
A Better Story is about giving over and above what we are already doing. If God doesn’t move you to increase your overall giving, then pledging to A Better Story is not the right step.

What should I do with my pledge card?
Celebration weekend is October 15 and 16. We are asking everyone to bring their pledge that weekend. The service will be a celebration of what God is doing, and will do, to write A Better Story in Iowa. We will worship through music a little more than usual, and as a church we will have the opportunity to share our pledges.

What if I pledge online or ahead of time?
Anyone who pledges ahead of time or pledges online will still be able to participate. Just drop a card in the box and write “already pledged” on it.

Where do I go to pledge online?
Pledge Online

What if I forget my pledge card?
We will have extra pledge cards available on Celebration Weekend for anyone who needs one.

When does my pledge start and end?
A Better Story runs for 26 months, November 1, 2011 until December 31, 2013.

How do I send in my pledge?

  • Online. Chose the A Better Story Pledge Drive. You also have the option of setting up recurring payments online by routing directly from your checking account or credit/debit card.
  • Cash. You can use a giving envelope at one of the weekend services. Please write A Better Story and your name on the envelope so it is credited to A Better Story.
  • Check. Please write A Better Story in the memo section of the check so it is credited to A Better Story. You could also use a giving envelope if you wish to.
  • Giving Kiosk. Only available in the Cedar Falls Campus lobby. You use your credit or debit card to give at the Kiosk, which will allow the Finance Department to track your giving and send you a receipt.
  • By Mail. Send your check to Prairie Lakes Church, Attention: Finance Department, 1907 Viking Road, Cedar Falls, IA 50613. For your contribution to be attributed to you for tax purposes, please include your name and address on your check or tithing envelope. You will also need to write A Better Story on your check or tithing envelope.

How do I get a giving envelope?
They are available by contacting our Finance Department at finance@prairielakeschurch.org or 319.266.2655.

If we raise more money than anticipated, where will the additional funds go?
If we raise more money than anticipated, we will evaluate the needs of our ministry at the time. Among the areas we will consider using the money for are additional campus launches, funding ministry at our existing campuses or paying off portions of our first mortgage.

Where will campuses 4 and 5 be located?
God has opened several doors in Grinnell during recent months. We are taking steps towards this location being our next launch. There are other communities that we are praying about and considering as well.
